IS THERE ANYTHING IN THE AUTO MARKET THAT CAN STOP RUST FROM FORMING?; I'VE HEARD OF ELECTRONIC DEVICES THAT ARE CAPABLE OF STOPPING RUST FROM STARTING. DOES ANYBODY OUT THERE KNOW IF SUCH DEVICES REALLY WORK?!

DOES ANYBODY OUT THERE KNOW IF SUCH DEVICES REALLY WORK?! Jonathan 04-27-1999, 04:20 PM I purchased a product called POR-15, which you can search either www.yahoo.com, or www.altavista.com to find the many sites available. Currently the manufactuer supplies MANY products that seem to work well for rust prevention and/or resoration. I have not tried it as of yet, but am anxious to do so. Douglas Broome 07-11-2000, 01:50 PM Check back issues of the car restoration magazine Skinned Knuckles for a long series of articles on rust-preventice and rust-converter chamicals. Years ago, M-B fans extolled virtues of a marine convertter called Corroseal. Dropped out of M-B awareness, but the stuff is still manufactured in the northwest for the ship trade. I am told it is chemically similar to the stuff called Extend, available in local auto stores. Further, I hear that current recommendations are POR-15 and Rusttoleum rusty metal primer. Good luck. ------------------ Douglas |
