I also am searching for a good Benz mechanic in the C. Jersey area. I live in the Bridgewater area with my 1980 450SLC. I do most of my own repairs but due to the lack of special tools and the occasional jitters on some jobs I need help. I have just recently tried a place called Denson's Auto Repair in Somerville. It's a small garage that seems to do alot of Benz's/ German cars. I paid $400 for lower ball joints and alignment, $125.00 for parts, the rest labor and alignment. Seemed like alot but I didn't want to do it myself. I Brought it in on Thursday morn. had it back Friday evening, no appointment needed. The shop's been around for year's and the owner seems like he works on a variety Mercedes. I'm now considering my timing chain and how much he would charge to do it, I'm thinking about $600.00 for guides and all. I'm going to inquire this week and will update the posting. What do you all think it should cost? You think $400 was alot for lower ball joints? I believe they have the knowledge/experience but I'm concerned about prices.
