I love mercedes, but I have 1994 C280 and it has been a nightmare. I have had the car a year and 30000 miles, and I have replaced $5000 worth of parts which have broken, and the car is in the shop now for a new transmission which I'm told will run $2500. This is without a doubt the most unreliable car I have ever owned. Let me put it his way.... I have a friend with a 1996 range rover 4.6 with 110000 miles on it, and he has far fewer problems than I. crazy huh?

I like mine.... posted a picture in the tech forum (page 22)

I have 116,000 and have put about $2600 into it from 56K to today. The big hit was the infamous head gasket leak. It got pretty bad so I just did it. I replaced the water pump and of course normal service like spark plugs and oil changes (easy to do yourself). I really like the look of the W202 over the new C class. The new one looks to japanese in styling in my opinion... take the star off the back and it could be the new Honda Accord...

Next, I plan to replace the front bushings, all shocks and ball joints. I plan to post pictures of this baby with 500K on the odometer!!! Down the road once it's much older it will likely be transformed into a race car. At least that was the plan with the BMW325 I had until it was stolen and trashed beyond use.

As with anything mechanical things wear out.

My top speed was 141 MPH at which point the computer limited the speed. Still had RPM to go!
