The photos of the Silver E430 featured on this site has a very shiny engine peeking through the plastic engine cover. I am no mechanic, so what part is that and has it been polished, chromed or just OEM? My 98 E430 engine does not shine like that! If it has been polished, where was the work done? I like it!

Kevin-
You are the first person to notice my shiny intake manifold. You get the prize...well, there is no prize but, I'll tell you how to do it anyway.

I did it by hand using Flitz but, any good magnesium polish should do. All it takes is some Flitz, lots of paper towels and elbow grease. The intake is made of magnesium so you can polish it to the point that it's as shiny as a mag wheel.
Do the following:
1) Remove the black plastic intake cover by pulling straight up.
2) Apply Flitz to a paper towel
3) Rub the intake with the towel until the towel is totally black and very little Flitz remains on the intake
4) Remove excess Flitz with a clean paper towel
5) Repeat from step #2 until people begin to question your sanity or you decide it's shiny enough

Flitz is available at Ace Hardware. It comes in a silver and blue tube similar to toothpaste.

I looked for Flitz at Ace this weekend. Is it in cleaning supplies or auto.?

I don't recall.
All I know is Ace is the place...ask the helpful hardware man.

Hey guys -

You can find Flitz in larger hardware stores, larger grocery stores and I have also run across some Flitz at West Marine (it's a chain store) in Dallas, TX.
