I have heard/read that Mercedes USA will be considering "no haggle prices". They state that this is to prevent additional Dealer markups for high demand cars and also to prevent consumers from shopping dealer to dealer for best price. That would mean everyone would pay the same price MSRP nationwide.
I just looked at www.edmunds.com (http://www.edmunds.com) for the 2000 prices. MSRP prices have gone up slightly, however the invoice (dealer) cost have shot up tremendously. For the 2000 C280 the base MSRP went up only $350, but the invoice went up $2104 from 1999 prices. The 2000 E320 went up only $900 (base MSRP) but the invoice shot up by $2713. This all means that the dealers have little or no choice to make deals because their actual cost have skyrockted and they will pass the price increase onto comsumers.
Ever since MBZ sold over 120,00/170,000 cars in 1997/1998 they have become like the Mercedes of old by raising prices under the table with the huge increase in invoice.
Anyone out there that paid an Additional Dealer Markup or the dealer would not budge from the MSRP?
