I was looking for advice on getting the front windshield replaced. I am getting some leaking inside the vehicle when it rains. I am assuming that it is the seal on the windshield but I do not know that for sure. I am getting some clouding of the glass on the right hand side.

Couple of questions: Who should I hire to replace the windshield? How much should it cost? How do I diagnose the source of the leak and if it is indeed the top seal of the windshield?

Is it possible the source is from the sunroof...even though the leak inside the car is around the windshield not the sunroof?

I just had www.safelite.com replace my 92 500e's front windshield for just under $300. However, they do NOT replace seals (at least I don't think they do). Service was fantastic -- they came to my office. However, I have noticed more wind noise since the installation. They came back out (for free) the following day to reseal the area I thought the sound was coming from, but its still there. My sense, now, is that the wind noise is from my driver's side window somewhere. I'm going to try covering sections with duct tape this weekend to narrow down its location....

All that said, I am pleased with the job they did and the service they provided.

The windshield is glued on with a caulk like adhesive.

$250 to $300 is about the market. I have had it done twice on W124's in my driveway. Important that the guy doing the Removal and Installation is familiar with MB. They need to have some spare clips for the roof rails.
If they break one, you don't want some monkey to start gluing them back in place.

Call the MB dealer and ask who they use.
