References to the left or right side of the vehicle are oriented from the driver position facing forward.

Regardless of where you are in relation to the vehicle, all references of left and right conform to this rule.

:D :D :D I've explained this to customers many times. In the US, this mean Left is Drivers side of car, Right is Passanger side!

I have found this in many SAE papers.

ASE mandated this as standard reference = all branches of the US government accept only ASE certified technicians = let your boss argue with the US government over the ASE industry standard.
