View Full Version : S-500 vs. 750iL lobito 05-26-2000, 04:47 PM which car would you own and why? akry 05-26-2000, 05:35 PM In case you don't know, 2001 7-Series will get minor facelift, and better equipments. S500 is a very nice car indeed, but so is 750iL. If you want comfortable ride, and don't mind much about performance, then S500 is the way to go. But if you are a aggressive driver, 750iL with Sport Package will be what you are looking for.... Personally, I will take a 750iL with Sport Package(shadow-line, 18" M-Tech double spoke wheel, M-Tech suspension)and Break-Resist-Glass package(thicker windows and rear windshield. With either glass or steel sunroof). IMO, 750iL is better equipped, and looks more luxurious inside. "base" S500 has too much visible plastic parts in the interior that makes it looks like a $100,000 GM... :( The other alternative(and that will put S500 price a tick higher than 750iL), is get a S500, with Designo Package(which will give you full leather interior ala 750iL, and more exclusive feel), and Sports Package(AMG 18" Monoblock, AMG body-kit). But again, ride comfort in S500 is un-matched(750iL with 18" rides a bit harsh), and you gotta love the close-assist on S-Class.... P.S. Keep in mind that All-New 7-Series is just around the corner. My brother in law owned a 750il. Comparing those car, I conclude that, S500 have a more low end power while the 750 il feel stronger on a higher rpm. Comparing the acceleration figure, S500 0-60 in 6.1 seconds while 750il 0-60 6.6 seconds. If you are looking for low maintenance and fuel efficiency, advance features, then go for S500, you won't regret it. But if you like classic, easy to operate car, go for 750il. THe navigation system in 750il is much more easy to operate. ------------------ Donny 97 E420 Sport (black) 00 S500 (Brilliant Silver) hkoh 06-09-2000, 03:23 AM Hey Donny, How's the handling on the New S-Class? Thanks. Well, I have to admit that the handling of My S500 is better than my E420. When cruising on a highway, it is more silence, stable, i have not try to push this car hard until 3000 miles shown in my odometer. But, I can feel that this car is faster than my e420. I also have not try to switch the suspension to sport mode. I will try later and let u guys know how is the handling. Comparing with the 750il that my brother in law have, The ride of S class is softer. But for cornering(considering the S_class in standard suspension mode), 750il is grippier. |
