I have a 1984 300 CD and need to purchase some new fenders and rear quaters. I was told to purchase fenders from mercedes only but, the price is $$$$. Does anyone have experience with aftermarket body part vendors they could point me towards. My understanding is that some aftermarket parts will only fit if you take a couple sticks of C4 and a sledge hammer if your lucky. I am looking for a good fit and decent quality body part without the mercedes price tag $$$$$$. Any recommended vendors would be appreciated.

Check with a reputable local body shop and ask if they can reccommend a good source of aftermarket parts. BTW,,, my info tells me that original parts from Benz are not really too bad,,, even compared to a Chevy or Ford. Front fenders are $286 for right and $342 for the left. Quarter panels are $550 for the right and $515 for the left. IMHO those are very reasonable prices.

Try Sherman parts in Wisconsin. They have many new sheet metal parts.

I have bought many parts for my 1989 sel used and have been hAPPY. i JUST BOUGHT A RIGHT REAR TAIL LIGHT FROM A MAN WHO LEFT A NOTE IN MY CAR DOOR AND SAID HE HAD ONE FOR SALE. I PAID HI9M $30 FOR THE TAIL LIGHT AND JUST REMOVED THE OLDER BROKEN ONE WITH THE $30.00 ONE! i AM NOT A MECHANIC! i AM AN ELEGANT EDUCATED WOMAN how loves this website. If I can do it anybody can. A lady hit me several years ago and I made a bunch of money by buying a door from a salvage lot and putting it on my car (they were the same color) instead of having body work done!

What about used rust free original fenders..They will be better than aftermarket except that you have to strip them if you do the job right and I can tell you the original paint off these fenders is not easy.

A used fender can be dipped and the result is nice clean metal with a phosphate coating. An aftermarket fender plus a body man making it work can be cheaper than a benz fender, but not always. Used parts work "just fine" and there are plenty of parts out west a ways to do the job. -CTH

you don't have to strip parts unless you see clear or paint peeling
then you can strip it but other wise you can sand and then prime if needed and retop coat your parts
I have an 84 190e and certifit does not have a fender for it. (Or any other parts for it) Too bad! I live 25 minutes away. I think their cut off year is 85. They have good prices on 86 models. I don't know what years are interchangeable but they said they didn't have anything that would work. I'm looking for a left fender, hood and grille. ezbodyparts.com has all but the fender. I can't find any feedback on them, though.

The aftermarket fnders are pressed in denmark I believe. The metal gauge is too thin compared to the originals. Best bet is southern used metal.
