This is one of few pictures I can find that have done this, and this particular car is scary!!! (NOT MINE)
What do you guys think... I think I want to do it, I have much more tasete full w210 e420 wheels...

Do you have the grey body cladding bottom half?

I think your question has been misunderstood.

How so?
Isn't he asking whether he should paint the bottom half to match the rest of the car.
Right?

Sure...go ahead and paint to match. I think it's an improvement!
It's a topic widely discussed inthe SL forum, since the pre-96 R129s had a different color body cladding as well.
I never cared for the grey bumpers and trim on the ML either, so I had them painted to match the body as well!
Some here have gone as far as to paint the bumper mouldings too...I'm mixed on that one...

This is correct. The lower half is gray. I am pretty sure I will be matching it...
Now I need an AMG bumper :)

The AMG bumper wouldl ook nice.
I was never too crazy about the bottomcladding.
I think most people here don't like it.
It looked OK in former 1991 420SEL because the car was so big, the lighter bottom made the car look "smaller." It was a visual thing.

Go for it (the grey cladding is awful) but be aware that it will hurt the resale value of your vehicle.

What resale value? It's fully depreciated by now...

All this talk of resale value reminds one that a good paint job on the lower half is probably going to exceed half the market value of the car. I wouldn't do it unless it's currently in bad condition and in dire need of a paint job anyway.

Paint it to match, it makes the car look more modern.
My god those wheels are bad! They belong on a civic not a MB!

The other guys are right, at 287k miles my car is depreciated to the max.
The car is in excellent condition and I plan to keep it. It was cheap, and I figure it will be a good second car to my up comin 993 911.
I am looking at the AMG lower spoiler, they are $250 on eBay, but I need to find out if they are real AMG parts. I will be painting the lower section, a friend of mine owes me about $400 so he is supplying the Glazirit (sp) paint...
Here is my plan:
AMG lower spoiler, gloss black all lower sections that were gray, matte black all chrome on car- except grill which is going to s600 style.
Eventually the entire car will have new paint (all glazirit as it is one of the top contenders in high end refinishing- rather expensive too). The hood is next on the list, deck lid- will probably change to the e320 deck, roof, then fenders, then doors, etc...
Also, I am always looking for w210 e430 17" wheels, as I have the 16" version.
I get excited about it!:D
