Does any one have any recomendations for brands of ATF? This will be used in a rebuilt early 70's three speed. Thanks in advance.

What is presently recommended for the older pre-722.6 transmissions is DexronIII-Mercon ATF, I believe this would work fine in a old autotrans like yours.....Gilly

I'm sorry, I see you are asking about brands, I was writing about "types" of ATF. Our shop uses Pennzoil ATF with out a problem.....Gilly again

Well I was thinking brands and types. Is there any difference between DexronIII-Mercon ATF and just plain DexronIII I see at the store? When DexronII was discontinued did Dexron III match the characteristics of II? Viscosity etc. Thanks for the info.
