I've seen the posts of shops in West Palm and Orlando, but both of these are at least a 1.5 hour drive, without traffic, from where I'm at.

I live in Vero Beach (Zero Beach) and work to the north in Palm Bay.

I have an '81 300 SD and I'm reading on the forum that even the young techs that are now at the dealers are not really familiar enough with this older vehicle to recognize its idiosyncrisies.

Any old timers in my area, even guys that want to work on it in their spare time for some extra cash?

thanx

If you look at my thread Ignition Lock Problem and see post #28, you'll read how a local indy helped me out.

The shop is K&B Foriegn Car Service at 2300 U.S.1 in Vero Beach.
772-569-3070.

Long story short, he charged me $20 to remove a key cylinder. Something a competitor said couldn't be done, and to do it his way would be $500. The good guy did it right then and there, the other guy not only wanted $500, but said it would take 3 weeks to order the part.

I had an old Audi diesel, many years ago, with a fuel leak problem. I stopped at K&B and asked about it, their tech came out, looked, and fixed it on the spot. 'No charge", they said!

Years later, I bring my MB wagon to them... Service as it should be... good techs, good attitude!

Stay away from Foreign Car Exchange just to the North of K&B.

IMHO, the Foreign Car Exchange owner will rip you off, as he tried to do with my ignition lock problem.
