It seems that there are now CDs for the older cars available.

Aside from this copy of ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/ebayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=578233056

So, I called mercedes directly @ 1-800-for-merc (or 203-573-0600 if you're outside the US). Here's what I found...

Vol 1: Chassis 136, 186, 187
Vol 2: Chassis 111, 120, 121, 128, 180, 189
Vol 3: Chassis 108, 109, 110, 112
Vol 4: Chassis 100, 113, 121

I have ordered volume 3 for myself. I'll tell you how it turns out.

Any idea if they are for MAC, or windows only? Ed

Knowing MB, they're PC only. However, you can always ask the partsshop people. I'm sure they sell them too.

However, the PC-ness only applies to the start-up screen they use. I know one fellow that was going to "fix up" the 123 disk so that it would work on his mac, but he hasn't had the time. Another fellow bypassed all the shockwave junk on the 201 disk and is mailing me the results. That change should be mac-compatable. I'll know when I get it.

Yes, I could. But, like Bartelby, "I prefer not to".

The new disks arrived today.

It covers:

180 [120] 1954-1962
220 [180] 1954-1959
190 [121] 1956-1961
219 [105] 1956-1959
220 [128] 1958-1961
220 [111] 1960-1965
230 [111] 1960-1968
250 [111] 1966-1968
280 [111] 1968-1971

The CD is part # P-2700-EV2-000.

It doesn't have a speedometer on the cover. Instead, there are a few low quality black & white images of the represented cars.

It says on the back, and I quote,

"The STAR Classis Service Manual Library contains:
(where available and/or applicable):
Workshop Manuals
Engine Manuals
Owner's Manuals
Parts Picture Catalogs
Transmission manuals
Other supplimentary manuals

The good news:

- It can be used on a MAC
- The parts manual for the 190 is there, in black & white (unlike the real thing, which has color plates).
It has part numbers.
- The full transmission manual for the 1959-1968 models is there.
- They cleaned up some of the navigation (but not much).
- Good scan quality, except for the occasional crooked page.

The bad news:

- It seems every blasted thing they could put into separate PDF files, is indeed separate.
- There's a feature in the PDF system to do OCR on pages and keep a hidden index of the words found. I know this, because I have the software. Of course, MB doesn't use it on any disk except the 201.
- It seems that the 190 is the only car with a dealer parts book.
- None of the 111 chassis cars have a parts book at all. The others are owner's books (no numbers).
- For the 111 coupe, they used the revison 40 manual as their starting point, so the fun sections, like the one about changing rocker panels are left out.
