Interesting. To add to this thread, I had poor experience.

I took my misfiring 300TE in and for 20mins he was driving the car around the city. When he came back he started working on other cars for another 40mins. Then finally went back to mine, sprayed for vacuum leaks and told me its not worth fixing as it could be anything. I didn't just pay him to tell me its not worth fixing. Waste of my time and money.

Very reluctantly paid him the $90. I will not be going back.

BTW, he is a very knowledgeable M-B Indy. You just have to learn to read between the lines with him and his Italian accent. After he repaired my 1989 560SL center vent accuator so that my A/C worked through the center he told me that it was not worth spending additional money on a new A/C controller. In the long run I found him to be right!

I don't know the engine in your car but the first thing I would look at would be the rotor and cap.
