crew,
well guess what I found out,the transmission is fine. therefore the it's not the front pump or the toque converter. It's the blasted axle - the monkey movers busted it somehow, or stripped all the teeth off the diff. When running and in gear the driveshaft spins. I don't know how I missed that, it is sort of hidden as the car is pretty low. Anyhow, it's a relief as I'm sure it's an easier fix than the tranny. I'll call monday to get their insurance to pay hopefully. Any suggestions for parts for these cars?
thanks,
darren

My bet is a broken axle. Hard to get the broken piece out but a new axle shaft shouldn't be too expensive. Jack up and "wiggle" each rear wheel.

by wiggling, should I feel it just kinda slop around? or pull it and see if it just slides out? this is my first experience with this kind of dammage. thanks jim!

Hi,
I would seriously doubt that you have a broken axle. It is much more likely to be the "sliding sleeve" in the right side of the rear axle assembly. It isn't a cheap part ($600).I've replaced two of them in my 6.3 over the last 14 years and seen several others fail in 6 cyl cars too. It is the weak link in the rear axle.
