OK
I am sorry I am asking lots of questions but very new to this SL world.
I was told by my MB mechanic that I should stay clear of the 75 I was looking at.
I now found a what seems to be a very nice 82 380SL in red, the color I was looking for.
The car was taken care of very well and it recently (10,000 miles ago) had the dual timing chain installed.
The only problem that he told me about is that he ripped the passenger side plastic window the last time he put the top down. I am not sure if that can be fixed.
The car has 87K miles on it.

What does everyone think of this and what do you think it is worth.

No rust, no dents or dings, everything works.

Thanks once again.

Ed,

You may get it repaired by a caravan/tent specialist (I have seen people having softtops repaired by tent specialists before).
Mercedes sells the rear of the softtop (with the windows) as a replacement part for the R129 SL, maybe they sell it for the W107 separately as well...

Soft tops are from 475 to 1000 on the internet and locally here in Houston, installation is another 400 to 700. The plastic windows on either side are basically useless. I can't remember ever seeing them in the rear view mirror. I would just patch the thing until it was time to replace the whole item.

Any one have any help on my 83 380 SL wiper problems?
Thanks
Tom Newman
