Short of paying the dealer $600 plus installation for a longer belt is there an inexpensive way of lengthening the passenger belt 2 inches on a 129 Benz?

Seat belt webbing can be purchased relatively cheap and in many colors. I suggest buying some belting and have an upholstery shop cut out the old webbing and sew in a longer piece. Make sure they use the propewr thread and match the same pattern as the original so it maintains the original strength and crashworthiness. There are several aviation shops that speacialize in custom seatbelts for A/C and they may be of help if you have no local sources. I will keep my eyes open for your posts or just e-mail me directly.

If removal and down time is an issue, I wouls suggest buying a salvaged one from one of the salvage yards that specialize in MB's and have that redone. The it would be a quick swap out and you are back opn the road!
