View Full Version : Factory Shop Manual Now Available
I noticed in a link on the forum that Manuals Unlimited now sells factory manuals for the 98 ML320, for example. I'm wondering if anyone has experience with these new manuals and if they are factory - I ask that because the dealer can quote me at about twice the price. There's alos a reference to these manuals covering multiple models - does that dlute th contents for your specific model?
marianeeli 10-12-2006, 12:12 PM Hi fema,
Well. If you give the URL of the link that will be helpful for us.
OK - if you click the what's new tab on the forum it appears as www.mercedesbenzmanuals.com. There site however is www.manualsunlimited.com, thanks.
Carson357 10-12-2006, 02:40 PM funny thing is they are all copies, i was given advice here on the same forum not to sell illegal copies
Carson - how do you know these are illegal copies being sold? Manuals Unlimited tells me that while the disk contains info on multiple vehicles, you only get access to the one you need - maybe that's how there price is half the MB price? And if they have a deal with MB, which I don't know, they should be legitimate.
Webmaster 10-12-2006, 08:19 PM funny thing is they are all copies, i was given advice here on the same forum not to sell illegal copies by larry bible, and now this company is a sponsor? No. They are not a sponsor. Google is the sponsor and they are evidently running that ad on our site.
Do you have proof that their copies are illegal? I can report them to Google and give you as the person for Google's legal team to contact.
Selling illegal software is strictly against Google's rules!
Please let me know and I'll let loose the dogs.
In the mean time I have contacted Google to block their ads until more info is avail.
Carson357 10-12-2006, 08:57 PM they have to be illegal copies, anyone who know mercedes programs as well as i do knows that the only program made by mercedes that covers so many models and years as they do is wis, and in their ad they even say it is wis. even if the dvd's were not copies, lets just say they are not for the moment,
there are licensing violations comes in to play with the installation key. the key is what you need to use and install the program, and the only legal source for that key is from mercedes benz directly., i was selling dvd's on ebay for some time until i had to deal with mercedes, then i was selling original dvd's and was given the explanation by sefan grell stefangrell@mbusa.com of mercedes benz of north america that any dvd or key obtained anywhere but from mercedes either is a copyright infringement or a violation of intelectual property rights. so mercedes is not going to give this company legit keys ever. one single authorized key is worth literally thousands of dollars and will only work to one specific machine as it is assigned by lan id.
likely they have a generic key or a key generator
Carson357 10-12-2006, 09:06 PM look here is a picture directly from their site original wis dvd's are not done with a light scribe www.lightscribe.com

Interesting - I didn't mean to cause such a firestorm, but I geuss it's a good thing. Hard to believe they can do this so easily. I'm surprised this wasn't caught before, eh.
So the answer to my original question is what...? To repeat - forget manualsunlimited now - has anyone purchased the MB WIS system now available and what is your opinion of it's use for us DIY'ers, etc? Thanks.
