Team -
I decided on my strategy for the "free" 280S. I will try to get the engine running, bleed the clutch, and see if I can drive it around the block, and then assess whether I can drop the engine/clutch/trans in the 250C as a unit. This would be a huge time-saver.
BUT - now I get to deal with my (and Christy's) issues all over again. Carbs apart, Karo syrup (and acorns) in bottom or carbs, questionable ignition, etc.
The good news is that I put a battery in and the engine turned over easily - with the ignition key. And I have voltage to the coil. No spark across the points, though.
First spark, then gas.
Also vacuumed out the animal turds and threw out the moldy carpet. Cleaned the windshield to give the poor old guy some dignity in his final days. Observed that I could literally vacuum up the floorboards - now that's rust.
Anyway, I did want to assure everyone that the drama will continue for a while, even if Christy gets her car going.
Stay tuned, and thanks again for all your support!
