What service?

* General maintenence?
* Body and Paint?
* Heavy drive train overhaul?
* Electrical repair?
* Light mechanical and (interior/exterior) Trim?
* Total Classic - Antique vehicle repair/restoration?
* Performance enhancement?

# All seem to be roughly even on oil service.
# Some will not touch a vehicle over ten years old... :mad:
# Body and Paint I send to

Interesting. The St. Clair Shores dealer is quite new. I believe it opened in spring 2006, not even a year ago. My mom lives just a few miles away. :)

They had over three hundred MB master technicians apply to work there.

They took only the best.

Highly recomend that dealership.

The general manager was great to work with (he signed my badge apps.) Even the people in the parts department are easy to work with. 15% off parts if your in the MBCA. They stock a lot of fuel filters now (I've went back a few times for them)

The parts manager at MB of SCS is just great. She has chased down obscure little parts for my 73 450 SL and loves the challenge. I have had nothing but great experiences with them. They did my 1985 Service Advisory repair (can you imagine, a 21 year old service bulleting on a 33 year old car !) a couple of months ago and treated me like I was having $1,000 worth of work even though it was a MB recall. :D

MB of Ann Arbor, MI has new ownership. brand new facility as well. their service dept was rude, and when i inquired about the rusting spring perch problem they said MB USA nor the dealership will EVER touch any MBs w/ original warranty expired. This is after I talked to MB USA and the MB rep told me to contact the service manager for the issue. I wont be going back there again for service.

FWIW, the parts guys there are really nice though.

KARL HEINZ AUTO CENTER, MB-BMW-PORSCHE
Royal Oak

BOROS
Troy

25 years of prestige.

MB-SCS may have great service NOW...wait a bit, you'll see that change. they had to get it up & running. don't be fooled by the post regarding all the applicants. they had to temporarliy import the guys with the real knowledge. wait a year.

AutoMetrics is a respected collision shop. Autohaus for your VW/Audi.

You'll get no satisfaction from SonicAutogroup. Go to KHAC or BOROS, they'll do it right & they don't need a computer to remember your name.

What about John Hoelger on 9 mile in eastpointe? I haven't gone to the new dealership on 9 mile in st.clair shores, but I am looking forward to going since now I have a dealership that is only a few minutes away. What a shame no more mercedes of bloomfield for me, there SA's were nice, but there was this younger guy in parts that was very rude.

I've had to fix a lot of problems from Karl Heinz. Right before I bought my 16V, the PO (close friend) had a new throttle body put on by them. It came back with a 2000 RPM idle which was never resolved after 3 trips back to them. I ended up replacing the torn idle air control hose that sits right on top of everything in the engine compartment.

Years ago I took my 450SL to Boros, he did good work. I had a bit of a personal problem with him. He started doing approved work for free, then didn't want to take the car back.

MB of Ann Arbor has new owners? Guess the Dahm family gave up on the location. I wonder if they still own the BMW store down there. I was on Gratiot last night and noticed Bavarian Motors a Dahm store is only selling pre owned. Also it appears that International Motorworks is moving locations. I wonder where they are moving? Anyone know?

whunter are you currently a praticing technician? When we were at the autocross I got the impression you were, and if so where? If you don't mind me asking I understand from your standpoint it might be self promotion, but from our standpoint it could be valuable info!

This is where I work now.

Keeping up with all the questions and part orders has me far too busy for working on cars.

I hope to see you at the next meeting.

i can't count on one finger the number of people who had problems with BORO! as for the 16V TB replacement, i can guarantee the IAC hose didn't leave that shop torn...i've watched customers there save thousands of $$$ over dealer improper diagnostics by replacement of simple parts. i've also seen plenty of MB dealer OE replacement parts that were defective or needed mod's to fit right. just watched them yesterday have to modify a fuel dist. that came out of the MB box. is it possible that your youth and inexperience slants your opinion?

Mercedes of Ann Arbor - Took my car there last December for the 75k service. Service writer was not about customer service at all, I additionally asked him to order a tow cover for my AMG bumper, which he never did. Prepaid for one and made a 2nd request a month later. No call from the Parts Dept. that the part was in. After I called for follow up, they said it's just been sitting there waiting for me to come get it. Got to the dealership and found they ordered the wrong part! The correct AMG part will cost me an additional $148. One week later they called to say the part was painted and finished. Handed it to me in the box - without the mounting grommet. Can't be installed securly without the grommet!
2 months after the 75k service, my battery went low. Called MB Roadside Assistance who brought me a new battery for $200, and showed me that the old batter had not been physically checked (the paper label was still intact and not punctured). Never go to Mercedes of Ann Arbor!

Mercedes of Bloomfield (Novi) - After the awful service I received at the Ann Arbor dealership, I took my car to the Bloomfield location. So far...no complaints.

Autometric Collision (Euro) - The Autometric location @ 580 S. Telegraph in Pontiac specializes in European Cars and is the body shop for Mercedes of Bloomfield. They did very good work as I just got my car back from there. I've used the Centerline location to repair my Corvette front end, and the Southfield location as well. The shops produce very consistent results.
