View Full Version : who knows where to get carpet sets? opossum 04-25-2001, 02:05 AM has anyone bought or made carpet sets for our old cars? mine are terribly sun bleached and balding. ctaylor738 04-25-2001, 09:11 AM Adsit and Bill Hirsch advertise them for around $400 for a full set. Chuck Channel1 04-25-2001, 10:28 AM Try Wolrd Upholstery http://www.worlduph.com/hubpageMERCEDES.htm They have everything from carpet to headlinders. Regards, Bryan rickjordan 04-26-2001, 08:48 PM Nice source of info. there Bryan. Though for my car it brings up a question or two. According to that website, Mercedes used "Import loop" during the 70's to the mid 80's, then switching to Feintuft velour. My car was made in April '80 and has what I think would be the Feintuft velour. It is definitely not a loop carpet. Is this Feintuft velour a wool blend carpet? You'll have to pardon my ignorance, but I didn't realize Mercedes used real wool in their carpets. I always knew Rolls Royce did. I just thought the carpets in Benzes was just a real high quality cut pile carpet, but still made of regular carpet materials like nylon and such. MikeTangas 04-26-2001, 08:59 PM I also checked out the link Bryan, even though I think I stumbled across it some time back (but didn't save), Thanks. Only thing that doesn't make sense to me. They say this is for carpet only, not the padding, well on my 108, the foam (?) padding appears to be an integral part of the carpet. Looks like it is moulded right to the carpet material. Should the two separate, or do they separate. What am I missing? My fronts have seen heavy use over the years and are starting to wear badly, but the rears are looking OK for their age. Something to squirrel away for a feel good fix. Channel1 04-27-2001, 10:02 AM You can peel the pads off the carpets if you are careful. I never found a pad for the driver side as mine was missing. I made one up out of foam rubber padding glued together and a plastic garbage bag over the pad to protect it from moisture. Crude, but it works fine until I find a OEM pad in a from a organ donor ;). Regards, Bryan opossum 04-27-2001, 02:37 PM great source of info guys, thanks alot. to have an exact match of what is original for mine is going to run about 600 bucks. |
