I have to replace the antenna seal on my '85 300D. The antenna doesn't work so I'll take a look to see what's going on while I'm there.
It looks like I have to pull away a plastic liner from the side of the trunk. In the left fender, on top, there is a metal rod that is clipped to the body of the car. It pops out of the clip and leads to what looks like the antenna motor or winding wheel. What is this rod for? It is not obvious to me.
