Folks, I posted the following over in the Bodywork section of the forum....also posted it here because of the activity here in Diesels...
Gentlefolks,
Are there any sources of matching paint in "spray cans". I am getting ready to have my rear windscreen gasket replaced....and I know there are a couple of rusty areas......intend to use "NAPA rust converter", and cover that with a good quality primer.......and would like to spray a Midnight Blue coat over the primer.......
All I have found...so far....are the "MB Touch Up Kits" for around $50.00......
If all else fails......is there another vehicle color that is close that I can get in a spray can??
SB
Note: I want to do this while I have the rear windscreen out of the car......the rusting area goes up under the gasket....

Can't help you too much with the spray paint, but here is a good overview of what I had to do with my rear window.....

IMHO, an epoxy rust encapsulator like Rustbullet is a superior (also $$) choice to a rust convertor.
As for paint, I've got 3 shades of aftermarket silver, and none of them are perfect.

If you are doing a small area this is an affordable option. Get one of these

Then any reputable local auto paint supplier can mix you a quart of paint from your paint code. These work surprisingly well for little projects, just run some thinner through it during clean up - it will last a long time.

I've bought both the spray cans and touch up bottles from PaintScratch using the paint code. Perfect match all three times.

Try www.paintscratch.com (http://www.paintscratch.com)
Thanx, I ordered up a spray can of 904 Midnight Blue......$25.00 per can is a bit pricey, but still way cheaper than a $45.00 kit with a fingernail polish sized bottle and a couple of brushes from Performance Products....
....I also added a comment to the order...."you folks come well recommended at www.mercedesshop.com".....maybe we can get a break on the price someday.....
Thanx again,

Good job on the writeup.....I am having my rear window re-sealed by a professional glass shop.....as part of having my windows tinted.....long story, but am having it done at a shop recommended by Pohanka MB in Salisbury, MD.....will drop the car off several days before I attend the NASCAR Race in Dover, June 03.....I go to Ocean City, MD, visit my mom and do her "honey-doo jobs" the week before and after each race.....didn't want to have it done here in WV because they don't do all that much tinting and MB window replacement around here......if they do a good job, and don't break the rear glass, I'll have then do/replace the windshield in September (next race at Dover)...and my inspection sticker expires in September as well.......
Thanx

I've ordered paint from these guys:

and was pleased with the results. The match was nearly perfect on 2 out of 2 cars.
