We sell Glasurit, PPG, R-M, and Omni. We used to sell Dupont way back in the day but Dupont decided to stop supplying us (corperate chain called finishmasters moved in, they sell Dupont and Dupont didn't want us competing with them), so we switched our main line of paint to PPG. Glasurit 55 line would look the best (with Glasurit clear) but it is very expensive. Over $600 a gallon for some colors (reds in particular). I used PPG to paint my 190e, it looks great. However, there really is a difference between Glasurit and everything else out there... Glasurit just looks amazing in any color. PPG is great paint, don't get my wrong, but Glasurit is good stuff. However, the PPG paint costs about half the price of the Glasurit, and it still looks damned good. Most of the shops we supply use PPG for production and custom work. Only the really high end shops use Glasurit. Anyways, here is my car fresh after I painted it: http://dano.pocketrubbish.com/images/photos/wetsanded/DSC_4864.JPG Are you spraying it yourself? I've sprayed both Glasurit and PPG and I've found PPG a bit easier to work with, especially metallics. What color do you plan on going with? mendodiesel 07-07-2007, 04:11 AM Im going to repain it bg 199 its a metallic blue black code, found mostly in Europe, does PPg have a higher end?How much for a quart?? cani use ppg with Glasurit clear?? help:book: danwatt 07-07-2007, 12:05 PM I painted my car 199 in PPG, it looks great. I used Transtar clear, about $150 or so retail for the clear + hardener (gallon). The PPG 199 is pretty much an exact factory match. mendodiesel 07-17-2007, 02:39 AM How does the transclear compare to say the ppg clear? Is a car ok if i spary clear and not bake it? i saw a product called quick dry at the store:singer: mendodiesel 07-18-2007, 02:30 AM Martin Senour paint any good?? Sherwin Williams paint any good?? Ive got a guy offering to do a job for me but hes got no PPG,Glasurit or even Dupont. :wacky: danwatt 07-19-2007, 12:43 AM As long as correct formula is used, it will look great. All the major paint manufactures make quality products. Stay away from the cheaper lines of paint, such as Omni (which is indeed made by PPG, but it's for one day paint type shops). mendodiesel 07-19-2007, 01:15 AM Ok thanks,im going to go with Glasurit ive decided, itys a few dollars more, but i dont want to do anything i will regret later. Thanks |
