This would override all local municipal rules, and make life easier for anyone restoring antique cars as a hobby.

Pro-Hobbyist Inoperable Vehicle Bill Introduced in Michigan

A version of SEMA model legislation (S.B. 700) has been introduced in the Michigan State Legislature that would outlaw local zoning ordinances that prohibit the hobby of collecting and restoring motor vehicles. Junked, wrecked or inoperable vehicles, including parts cars, stored on private property could still require screening from public view by fencing, vegetation or other means. The bill has been referred to the Senate Committee on Local, Urban and State Affairs.

We Urge You to Contact Members of the Senate Local, Urban and State Affairs Committee (List Below) Immediately to Request Support for S.B. 700

S.B. 700 would permit maintaining motor vehicles as a source of parts for restoration jobs.
S.B. 700 provides safeguards for hobbyists to work on collector vehicles on private property.
S.B. 700 allows localities to establish reasonable provisions that vehicles be located out of public view by means of suitable fencing, trees, shrubbery, etc.
S.B. 700 demonstrates a real effort by legislators and hobbyists to enact reasonable and fair compromise legislation.
