That's okay by me. I'll take the Brabus SL . . . I like their version of the CLS, too.

Apples and oranges.

My bet is that it's probably easier to get the Brabus than it is to get the Veyron. According to Bugatti, they seem to be losing money on them in spite of the huge price tag. I bet they'll be great collector cars though!

I loved his explanations of the issues involved in developing the Brabus, the torque and horsepower, and getting the power from the engine to the road.

I think that was a little bit of creative exaggeration to make the story more interesting, but maybe not. I only say this because the Veyron is about 925 ft-lbs and can work, though since its AWD, perhaps that means the torque is distributed over four tire patches rather than two.

Btw, I'm not saying the SL wasn't impressive and I too like it, I was just pointing out that the Bugatti is much more powerful and technologically impressive, even if it loses money.

I saw a video about it once. I think it said its tires -- which are the among the most advanced in the world -- can still only tolerate about 8-10 minutes of 250 mph torture before becoming so hot as to be too dangerous to continue, not that it matters because even on a full tank of fuel the motor will suck the tank dry in about the same time.

I think it had something like 12 or 16 radiators as well since the 16-cylinder, quad-turbo engine has such a high heat output.

Veyron owner to gas station attendant (Yeah, I know there's no such thing as a gas station attendant anymore, but stay with me here), "Fill 'er up and change the tires . . . " If you can buy a $1,500,000.00 car, I guess buying tires by the dozen shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Probably can buy them by the gross, daily even.

How the heck can you compare a Veyron to an SL65? You cannot compare these two cars they are as different as night and day. The SL65 competes with the Ferrari 612, Bentley GT, ect. Its a GT coupe for those that don't want to spend $400k on an SLR.

The Veyron "competes" with only one car, the Mclaren F1. I use the word compete losely because they really don't. Only 13 year old kids compare them and argue that the Veyron is 10mph faster on the top end so is "better". For practical purposes the comparision is pointless, different cars, different era's, both very fast. However the Mclaren is a legend, with a very successful racing history, while the Veyron lacks any racing wins, and is very new. It hasn't earned its stripes yet, there are a great number of very fast super cars that are flops. EB110 for example, BMW M1, ect. The real test is time, 20 years from now will it still hold its value and be revered as one of the greats.

If you don't know the difference between AWD and RWD I can't help you with that, but asking why the SL65 can't plant 1000ft pounds of torque to the ground kind of makes me think you don't. Google and come back.

Yo buddy, all i said in the beginning was that the car wasn't a match for the Veyron. It was a one-line post and wasn't exactly insulting or discrediting to you or the SL65 Brabus. Don't get personal and imply that I'm an idiot just because I posted something that you don't necessarily agree with. Start the new year off being a little more tolerant of fellow shopmembers' opinions -- I didn't rip you a new one for something you said...
