View Full Version : bosio nozzles installed...
turbobenz 03-31-2008, 02:48 AM Kickass stuff. My sd went from being a healthy high mileage diesel to having as much power as my 300d. The idle is LOUD and sounds slightly more "burly", more trucklike, than the little mercedes "frog farts" the bosch ones make. But still nothing like a real big diesel. Didnt solve my hot rough idle though, but it didnt make it worse. These are definelty performance upgrades. I wasnt going to pop test them and just wing it, but I took all my injectors apart and threw the random parts in a cup of brake cleaner. Big mistake, I thought every factory injector was exactly the same. Rookie move, some of the shims are different thickness's. So im going to have them pop tested wednesday and hopefully shimmed to be right, and hopefully Ill have a better idle and even more power. If you like your car to be a quiet machine, these are not for you. They are significantly louder than the stock ones
1985300d 04-03-2008, 12:30 PM are these the 265 nozzles or the factory 240?
michael cole 04-03-2008, 01:09 PM your on track.get em pop tested and adjusted.then give it some time and miles for the new nozzles to settle in.a little carbon will form on the nozzle orifice and quiet them down:)
turbobenz 04-03-2008, 09:01 PM are these the 265 nozzles or the factory 240?
not sure. all i know is they made my car peppier
latitude500 10-03-2008, 09:05 PM Where did you end up purchasing your injectors?
johnathan1 10-09-2008, 10:42 PM Is there a difference between "rebuilding" the injectors and just replacing the nozzles? Or are those the same thing? I see those terms used a lot around here and was wondering if there is a difference...
GREASY_BEAST 10-10-2008, 09:17 PM Injectors, at least in our specific case, consist of an orifice, a pintle, a spring, some shims, and two body halves. Whenever you change the orifice/pintle assembly (i.e. "nozzle"), you have to use a pop-tester (essentially a lever-actuated injector pump with a gauge) to check whether the injector is doing its thing at the appropriate pressure. The pressure is set by installing shims of the appropriate thickness under the spring, and the injector must be dis-assembled in order to do this. When one "rebuilds" an injector, one would likely replace the nozzle, and absolutely must re-pop the injector. If the injector is dis-assembled for any reason whatsoever, it should be re-popped.

ebay
a guy bought them from diesel giant and never used them
bgkast 10-21-2008, 04:30 PM My injectors are nailing like crazy so I am going to buy new set of nozzles soon. I am leaning toward bosio. I should order nozzles for a 60X engine to ensure I get the 265 style nozzles correct? Any place other than diesel giant to order bosios from?
LuckyEddie 11-12-2008, 08:13 PM Is it true that the 265 nozzles will take out the glow plugs in a short time??? In a 617 engine.
bgkast 11-12-2008, 09:35 PM Not sure. I went with 261 Monarchs from C Sean Watts.
LuckyEddie 11-12-2008, 10:15 PM I bought a set from him yesterday. Nice fellow. I hope to get mine in soon.

No.
261, 265 are 60x -nozzles. Don't ask for the difference, just details you won't see and feel.
For wvo I choose 297 (or 293, can't remember) with better results in starting compared to 261 / 265.
Just take what is available. But always have them pop tested. For balancing and to verify that they are o.k.
The quality of the past is gone, therefore prices are quite low, so you have to select.
Try to get the 2 stage injectors for the 61xs. That is what makes a real difference.

Ask Sean Watts for the pictures of the eroded prechamber. I think the damage came from a wide pattern and it ate through the side of the prechamber.
I got the 261 set from him.

how are those Bosios doing after 7 - 8 months?
bgkast 11-19-2008, 05:53 PM I got my monarch 261s installed, balanced and in the car. No more nailing at idle and the engine seems more smooth and quiet through out the while rev range.
Now that I have all the tools I am planning to start rebuilding injectors for others. PM me if interested.
where did you get the different thikness shims?
Did you set your rebuilds high to compensate for settling?
how close could you get them?
bgkast 11-19-2008, 06:09 PM For my set I canabalized a spare set of injectors I had for shims. I am buying a shim assortment for rebuilding other's injectors.
I set them all between 135 and 140 BAR.

Good to hear you are having good results with the Monarchs. If I don't get something custom, I'll probably go with some of these especially since Sean is right near by home where I can drop in.
300SD81 11-20-2008, 12:23 AM How much are you charging for this? I might need to service my injectors soon, but I'm not sure what I want to go with.. 261 vs 265 and if I want to go all out and get AZZs (can you balance those??)

Check the link in my signature. From what I hear you loose a lot of low end torque with the AAZs. I should be able to balance them, but I think they will need different shims, so it may cost a little bit more.

I should be able to balance them, but I think they will need different shims, so it may cost a little bit more.My experience does not jibe with that low end torque loss. I'm not sure how many people are running them besides myself and FI, but I'd love to hear from those that have them and what they think.
