I can't believe I haven't put this out here yet. Need a great independant shop in San Antonio? Try Randy Zand at European Car Parts on Eckert Road at Bandera, on the Northwest side of town. He's been doing this for 17 years. Heinz answers the phone, they are at 210.521.8822. I've had my cars in there dozens of times (I do most of the easier stuff myself), and referred many friends there. Always honest and very reasonably priced. A hint, though. While he can and does turn repairs around quickly, you'll be more appreciated and maybe save a little if you give him plenty of time. Along with normal German (please don't take your Jag there...) auto repair, they do great paint and body work as well (I've seen him take a Porsche hood that was crunched and folded in half, and make it like new!). He's done body work on all 3 of our vehicles (and 1 was a Nissan pickup!). I have absolutely no $$ interest in this place, but I would appreciate if you told Randy I told you to stop by.

Theres a place on Basse road. I thought it had euro in the name. I called them and they seemed reasonable but now I cant find number or name!
edit:
I found who gave me the recommendation

Its EKG motor service on Basse rd. 2103421342

Anyone had any experience with this company?

Well I have experience with this company...now. Ekg - Gastons is the full name.

Dont go there unless your ok with dealer prices. I think they know their stuff but I interecepted an attempt to do unnecessary work. Then they made me sign a realease b/c they did the work to factory specs and not the long way which of course wouldve been more $.
After asking if they had a "tow service" in our initial discussion and their affirmative response I was charged for towing in the end.
Also the agreed upon time to complete the job was doubled. When I noted it they acted as if I was unreasonable.

well then try stan at Import Auto Repair. He is very reasonable and very quick. He even stays late so you can get your vehicle if you happen to have to work for a living like me. That right there is a major deciding factor in picking an indy. The last mechanic I used makes it to where you can't afford to use him because its basically like going to the dealer. Plus, at 5:00 hes out of there. No way I can even get to him without missing work.

Two places I highly recommend in San Antonio for ANY MB work.

European Auto Werks on Nakoma.

Kehl Motors on Nacodoges.

There may be a few others I've not had experience with but these guys know the MB cars inside and out.

David Kehl is one of the best known Euro car guys in the USA. Do a search for him and see what kind of stuff comes up. This guy has forgot more information about these cars than most top mechanics ever remember.
