I'm looking to go VNT on my om602. Since I'm building just solely for speed, I want the best possible vnt easily found.

It's not Semi big, but it's big enough to flow more air than I bet you can use, and it has a t3 flange. Just search for "Holset" on Ebay, there are a ton of them on there. It can push 50psi on a 14.0L Cummins ISX and would light up around 7000rpm on your small engine. Even the HE341VE used on the 6.7L Cummins would be far more than your engine could handle. Unless you are aiming for 500+hp, anything bigger than a Garret GT3788V (Powerstroke 6.0L and Intertrashional DT466E) would be a waste of time. Even the E320CDI's GT2359V will supply enough air for your engine to make 300hp. Bigger is not better when it comes to turbos. You need to find what best matches your engine's specs and airflow needs, not the biggest you can throw on it. babymog 06-06-2008, 12:50 AM Yah, it does help to have enough exhaust flow to spin the thing. GT3788V it is. I was shooting for around 300-350hp. Even that is much too big for your engine and those power goals, it would even be too big for a 603 with those power goals (There is a 603 in Finland making 415hp with that turbo). Keep an eye on eBay, there is often a GT3576V with a buy it now between $175-250 that would be about perfect for what you need. KarTek 06-06-2008, 09:57 AM I think the GT3788V is a pedastal mount rather than a flange mount. Personally, on an inline engine, I'd rather have the flange mount. You'll end up having to fabricate a pretty hefty side mount on the engine with the oil supply and returns built in. This turbo also has oil pressure controlled vanes with a computer controlled valve so you'll have to come up with a way to either convert it or control it. I ran some numbers assuming the following: OM602 2497cc 350HP goal Decent intercooler 4750 RPM peak HP Result: Wa = 49.77 IIc = 3.93 Plug these two numbers into the compressor maps of turbo's you're interested in to see how they compare. The GT37 has so much rotating mass and the plumbing is so short that would surge really bad without it. Monomer 06-16-2008, 05:55 PM I have the hookup with turbonetics now. For another $250 I can buy a GT3577V that will flow more CFM and still spool up quicker. For $500 I can get an HE551V that would flow more CFM than 3 of your T3/T4 turbos and spool just as quick. |
