George-c 09-02-2001, 04:52 PM Boss says its about time to thin the herd. She says three MB's are enough...
*shrugs*
I had this car one year, put just about 30K miles on it with no trouble. Car has 270K on the clock now.
The battery was new last Dec. New water pump too. All the windows & locks work. Leather interior in good shape. Real nice CD radio & speakers.
The a/c doesn't work. Sunroof cable broken, but can slide it open & closed by hand.
There was some rust, so I did a quickie sand blast, Bondo & matching spaypaint on the spots. It looks good enough, you don't see it if your not looking for it.
Good commuter car.

George-c 11-24-2001, 07:02 PM Where else are you gonna get a running diesel Mercedes for just $1,000??? One that doesnt look like swiss cheese & that will get you where you want to go...
What a deal!
My son is in the market for a car. As you saw at the NJ Diesel meet, I have a 77 300D. I'll try to talk him into it and let you know.

Would it pass inspection in Pennsylvania???

George-c 11-26-2001, 09:09 PM Hey Jim,
It is the car that I brought to the meet that is for sale.

Hi Christy,
I don't know about PA, but it passes in NJ. They pretty much all pass in NJ, cause there is no emissions test for them. They check the basics like horn, tires, lights, brakes, glass & wipers. They don't even jack up the front end & shake the front tires like they do the rest...

My son would like to look at it this Saturday PM. He'll be in Newton taking the SAT's. Are you going to be around. Let me know and we'll give it a shot.
George-c 11-27-2001, 09:29 PM Hi Jim,
We'll be away Saturday & tomorrow night. Any chance Thur or Fri night, or Sunday afternoon?
~George~
George,
I am out of town. We may be able to do it Sunday PM. Shoot me a private message with your phone number and I'll keep you posted.

George,
My son decided that he didn't want a diesel. How have I gone wrong as a father? To make matters worse, my wife said no extra cars in the drive so I'm out as well.
To those that are or should be interested, it would be the best $1,000 you would ever spend. It pains me not to buy it.
Good luck selling and see you on route 15.

djoyce93 12-13-2001, 10:02 PM Do you have any other pics? Those are a little blurry. How much rust did you have to repair and how are the tires etc. What would it require to pass a safety? Thanks, Dave
George-c 12-14-2001, 07:47 AM Hi Dave,
The car passes inspection here. The tires are fair, not good enough for any real snow. The car needs brake pads & shocks, possibly front spring shims. It just started to make droning noise when slowing down, again the brake pads are very thin.
As far as rust,it was typical W123 stuff, bottoms of wheel wells, under front fender moldings by headlights. Driver floor pan was getting weak, so I ran a piece of angle iron under the rear seat mount area, that cured a sagging D seat.
You could drive it as is, with the exception of new pads very soon.
The site won't let me post clearer pics, takes too much space. I'll try it again though.
I have test driven this car, see earlier post.
My son, diesel bigot, and my wife, no more cars in the driveway, queered the deal.
At the price George is asking, it is a no brainer. Also, it has a ton of pep. I couldn't believe how much quicker off the line and responsive it was compared to my 1977 300D.
Anyway, my 2 cents.
