I have been looking for a 1980 450SL for a while. I know the 560 has a lot of improvements, but the 450 is for me. Also, 1980 is my favorite year. Anyone know of any for sale? I've looked in autotrader.com, ebay, yahoo, hemmings, etc.
I prefer black, or silver.

Curious, but what's the difference between an '80 and, say a '79?

I'd love to buy any SL for a second car. They're all so much money (for a good one), and I really don't have the space for it.

as far as I know, and I'm not an expert, 1980 had new design steering wheel and headrests. A disadvantage of the 80 is less power due to more emissions requirements. However, 80 was the last year.

If you see a nice one, not rusted, etc. let me know.

If I were going to get a SL it would be a 73 350/450SL came with proper bumpers, no emissions, and the cool hubcaps :D

I like the previous sl the 280 with a manny tranny. :) the one just before the R107 chassis.

I also love the R107 chassis, and for myself I like a 380 or 560sl pesonally. The 450's are nice too and the 350 is I think more rare int he US. I haven't seen many.
