I have a quick question regarding my 1996 C280. I notice that the car when off and parked (not running). There is a red light that flashs intemmitently from the radio dial (round on/off switch), this is probably normal. But just want to get some clarification, in case my battery ends updead as we don't use this car everyday and the flashing light is constantly blinking !!.

Second question regarding the radio alarm. There is a sticker on the passenger window that suggests something about the radio alarm. What exactly is this alarm, how does it work. Perhgaps it has something to do with that blinking red light.

It would take 5 or more years to kill the battery with this small LED. This is normal and indicates the Radio Alarm. The radio has a code and if not properly programmed after it looses power, It will lock out anyone who tries to use it.

Benzmac, great reply about the blinking light. What if I notice a beeping sound synchronized with the flashing light, that comes on sporadically when I turn off the ignition key? Doesn't happen every single time I turn the key off, just 75% of the time. Ever heard or seen that? I have a 1993 190E 2.3.
