I would like to add a cd changer to my '87 300e.I do not want to change the oem head unit because I prefer the oem look. Is there a source for oem units other than MB dealers?
Part suppliers, recyclers etc?
How good are the RF changer units that play through FM stations? Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Don

I would use the aftermarket CD players that "tag onto" the FM band of the stock Becker radio/head unit. I have seen many of these installed and all performed seamlessly. The other cool feature about that setup is you can get a small remote and face plate that I have seen mounted on the rearview mirror's sundshade. I think the system was Sony.

Try the following URL. These guys sell
Converter cables & CD changers for most
OEM headunits.

The Becker head unit in your system is not capable of controlling a CD changer - you will have to go with an RF modulated system, and they do work reasonably well. However, if you decide to go with an aftermarket system (in-dash CD or in-dash tape w/ CD changer), you'll be surprised at the difference in sound quality that the newer (onboard) amplifier will make - even with the stock speakers.
