I just have bought a '92 190E 2.3 and I want to change the original 4" speakers that are allocated in the dash of the car. I would like to know what is the better option fixing in the original place.
I want as well to put speakers in the rear side, I don't know if the car cames with an original cable instalation. I is not, what is the better way for the rear speaker cables.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I think I heard that MB Quart makes some speakers that will fit right in.

I own a 1993 190E. I replaced the front speakers with a set of 3.5 inch Rockford Fosgate coaxials. Very little effort involved. I replace the rear speakers with a set of 6.5 inch Polk Audio coaxials. Some, but minimal modification involved. I removed the factory sub-woofers from the doors. They were not very good. I removed the first aid kit, and installed a set of 6.5 inch Kicker mid bass speakers in the plastic box. Because of the great seal in the trunk, you really get a good crisp bass even with the small subs. I cut out the hardboard piece that covered the first aid kit, but I left the frame and carpet.( It will seperate, but you must take your time) A lot of effort involved, but the sound is worth it. That way, everything still looks factory, but the sound comes through the carpet, and does not get retarted by the hardboard. All run off a new stereo and amp, but that information would go under a different topic. Hope this helps!

William,
I have an 89 190E that I'd like to upgrade the speakers in. It sounds like the 93 had a more sophisticated system orginally.
What exact model of Rockford Fosgate did you use in the front? I don't want to get into any modifications and would like to keep to the 4" mounts in the rear deck as well. Do you think the Rockfords would be passable if used in all four locations? Thanks
I have a 1991 190E and was told that 5.25" are the stock size speakers on the dash and back ledge. Did they offer a premium stereo in the 190's because the 1993 version has in door subs and my car doesn't?

My 1988 190E came with 4 4" speaker.
I replace the 2 dash with macrom 4"
with no modification and velocity 5.25"
for rear (minimun board cut).
