Hi all,
Just a quick question here. Power antenna on my 1993 190 makes a grrrrnnngggrrhhhh noise about midway through the retraction phase. I'm about 99% certain that it's caused by the antenna being dry and not sliding together with a lot of love. Question is, what's the best lubricant? How do I apply? It would seem that a non-dirt-collecting lubricant would be good (vs. 3-in-1 or WD-40). Maybe graphite?
Thanks for the info,
Matt

We use a thin oil such as the WD 40. Just wrap a towel around the antenna and spray. Then wipe clean. The key is clean.

First of all I would clean it delicatly with some very thin oil and then put some grease on it. And make your attena move up and down 10 times.

Make sure the antenna isnt bent, this'll give a smilar noise as the motor will need to strain to pull it in. :-)

Thanks guys - I happen to have some WD-40 at home... As to being bent - nothing I can see from different angles though it makes so much sense...
I'm wondering if wind pressure could bend it slightly after traveling for some time in the 110+ mph zone?

Your answer to your speed question is yes but it happens only after 240km/h, I did 250km/h for 30min (extremly long time) and the antenna had a good curved look, since I replaced it with a timy cute one.
By the way, anyone knows how to take the speed limit off? My engine runs at 5200rpms when at 250km/h, was just wondering if I can reach the 300km/h if the engine didn't had that restriction. (560SEC 220KW)
