That weekend looks ok to me. What, besides gathering and showing off cars, is the idea? Is there a shop or part suppliers locally who are interested? I know the local MBenz car club also meets regularly.

I am in Longwood, and a short hop to anywhere in Central Fla.

Count me in! I guess I better do a good job washing the car beforehand !

I offered to host such a gathering and only got about 4 interested parties.

I have been in the process of planning gtg in central Fl. for a while. I am going to invite the guys form some other forums, www.benzsport.com, and the MBforum.org (or something like that).
However the weekend of the 23 is not good for me I am going to a autocross put on by the Tampa Bay section of MBCA (the STAR mag). I would like to do it either a week or two after the superbowl.
I have been looking at places to have the gtg and I have found 2 good candidates. An empty parking lot on the corner of Alafaya, and University. Or there is a closed Builders Square on 50 (Colonial).
I thought we could meet on Friday and go to the drags, however I know some people can not make a meet then because they work. We could have some people meet at the drags on Friday and have a parking lot gtg on Sat.
Anoter option would be to have small gtg in the Outdoor mall on Alafaya. The fist Sat. of every month there is a small car show in the parking lot. It would be cool to show all our mercedes off.

Just registered, and I haven't had time to take a good look around yet, but from what I've seen so far, this looks like a really great forum (must be brain-dead not to have gotten here sooner!?).

Anyway, thanks go out to Peter (ebennz) for the invite over.

I live in S. Florida, but I'm in O-Town a couple times a month on business. Even if I'm not scheduled to be up in Orlando on the day of the meet ... its only a 3 hour drive anyway (well, all right, maybe only 1 hour using the AMG).

I've been trying to get a 'Florida' meet together for a while now. Orlando seems like the most 'central' place to hold it.

An idea:

Lots of meets have taken place in California with members of MBworld.org. They usually get a local MB dealership to sponsor the meet, and give test-drives of new models to the people who show up (just a thought ... a pitcher of beer and a bucket of wings at Hooter's would be fine with me too!)

Only thing is ... I can't make it the last week of February. How definate is the date? A run to Daytona to catch the spring break hotties would be nice too!

There is a great park off of Aloma close to Rollins where the Brits met last year for a show off gathering.

Just bought a 97 E420 and 98 BMW 740il. The benz runs like the wind; bimmer is stodgy but soaks up the road better.

Would like to see and hear from all Benz owners in the area about the old and the new!

I work with alot of people from riddle what are you studing there?

I'm an aeronautical science major (professional airline pilot).

Is anyone up for this? I see a great deal of interest, but no definite date, place and time.

I propose the Seminole Town Center Parking lot, off I-4 and SR 46. Huge place, right off the interstate, and plenty of restaurants and bars close by.

The weekend of the 23rd is best for me. And it looks like the evening is popular with most folks.

Around 8 pm, in the lot near the mall?

i'm sorry i haven't followed up for awhile on this.

the mercedes benz club of america/ tampa section has an autocross at the zephyrhills airport the 23rd and 24th

we can either do something new the airport, and catch a lot of other people as well as have more to check out for ourselves or still do something closer to orlando.

let's get some input

johninfla- imo an evening gathering would limit us more on time and also being able to see everyones car would be a lot harder at night.

Let's set it up everyone. Howabout some of the original suggestions like a great place would be a huge open lot where an old Builders Square II was next to Wal Mart on HWY 50 (E. Colonial Dr.). It is easy to find (right off the main road connecting with I4) and would get much attention as weel as great space. A sunday would be best for me. Keep me in touch at CypressKB@hotmail.com.

...some folks with hotrods, vettes, and the sort get together sometimes at Waterford Lakes Shopping Plaza (Alafaya and east RD 50). Its a large place with a big parking lot, and food!!:D

I mentioned the Waterford Plaza earlier, however that is only on the fist sat of every month I will be there in March. Ok I can go on Sunday the 24 but NOT saturday If every one is willing to go on sunday I will set it up. I think the old Builders Square parking lot on 50 is good, I checked it out a few weeks ago big and open. So lets do it on Sunday Febuary 24 at the old Builders Square parking lot on 50.

Could not be easier from Tampa. HWY 50 (East Colonial Dr.) is directly off I-4 (east of Disney & Universal). At the very edge of the lot is a Krystals hamburger shop. Can anyone get some tables for food and pictures and stuff?

yeah, i work in the union at ucf so id be able to steal some tables for us to use. ill just need someone with a big enough cargo space to haul them over there.

I just came in from washing my car. It is sunny and beautiful out. I am going, and will chance getting caught in a rain. I think the sun will hold out for us, according to the weatherman anyway.

It went well. We had a good turnout, a handful of cars, new and older, C, E, SL and S class. Beautiful weather too. ebennz is going to post the names of those in attendance, and I believe there was a digital camera floating around. There should be some good photos coming up. I am anxious to see how my 560 looks.

BTW my first post :D

Man I wish I could have been there after putting some work into it I could not go. Oh well, I had a MBCA autocross event that was secduled for saturday and of course it got rained out, so we had it on sunday. The autocross was a blast tire smoke every where, and tons of awsome cars 2 SLK32's (one was my dads, he did not push it because he is still breaking it in). I did very well and came in second over all in the autocross event. The course was more of a handleing course, than flat out speed, so I am happy that I did so well against the more nimble cars.
I would realy like to meet everyone since I could not be there, I am thinking in a Drag meeting, in 6 weeks or so.
