One thing I love about the old mercedes is all the chrome. Mostly, I don't see problems with it either. Not sure what made it so much better than all the other car brand's chrome either, but would like to know.

Unfortuneatly some of my 190sl chrome is starting to pit. Is there anything I can do? Does anyone rechrome parts? Is it worth it?

Thanks for any info,
Eric

Yes, chrome parts can be re-chromed. Off hand I don't know of anyone I can recommend but, it might be as easy as looking in the yellow pages under plating. You might also call someone like Bud's Restorations and ask them to recommend someone.

For your 190SL, it is normally cheaper to buy new vice rechrome. The exceptions are the grill parts and the bumpers. Most chrome items are available. Check the the normal 190SL parts houses or eBay. I have picked up a number of needed items inexpensively off of eBay. Jim Miller sells a lot of "good" stuff on eBay.

Are you in the 190SL Group? Going to the annual gathering in Minneapolis MN this July?

I guess it would depend on where you would bring the parts to be rechromed. just be sure to stick to one place! some shops would make the parts appear shinier than the ooriginal ones and a mercedes with different shades of chrome would not look very elegant
