Hi,

Lately my 280sl w113 has been idling a little rough and the engine sounds a little like a diesal car. I recently changed the plugs, belt and oil. Sometimes when I turn the car on and leave it for a minute or 2, the engine dies but once the car gets going it's allright. What could cause this problem?

If you are refering to a clatter from the engine, it is time for a valve adjustment.
As far as idle problems, it can be from ignition to fuel or a combo of both. Not enough info to give you a good reply. If you are handy, a vac. gage and a dwell meter will help you get started. These are point ignition and I always start there.
