Recently on a trip with my '87 560SEL the radio suddenly started displaying 4 vertical dashes. I checked the manual and apparently the anti-theft deterrent system has rendered the system inoperable because it thinks that somebody tried to steal it while the alarm was on (I have no clue what made it think that, as it happened while driving and I certainly didn't try to take it out at that time). However, the manual doesn't tell me how to turn it back on. Help! Does anybody know?

The radio has an internal battery, after 8 to 10 years these batteries go bad, send the radio to Becker & have the battery replaced & the radio recoded.
