The cassette player on my '79 300D will not accept the tape. It simply does not allow the tape to "click" into position. It just pops back out without locking. The eject button is in it's proper place. The radio works fine, with the exception of the antenna only extending about 1/4 of the way.
FYI It is the Blauplunk Mexico, AM/FM Cassette with auto change bar. (No buttons).
Thank you,
Joe

I think you will find that it is less expensive to replace the radio with a new one that will sound and perform better than to try to repair your old one.

The small gear on the drive motor cracks and can't pull the tape all the way down...My advice replace it with a good unit.

Thanks, guys. I just thought it was something simple. I like the way the original looks in the dash. I weant out last night to look for a replacement and all most places have now are those hi-tech looking, blacked-out units with the tiny push buttons. Guess I'll keep looking.

I had a similar problem on my '77 300D Becker Europa (?). I was able to help the situation a bit by cleaning the pinch rollers and capstans with a long cleaning swab and head cleaner solution. Using a flashlight to see inside helped. The tape was only being accepted one out of 10 times; cleaning it improved it to perhaps one in 4 tries.

Thanks, Robert. I'll try that, too.
BTW, I mistakenly said "Blauplunk" when I acxtually have the "Becker Mexico".
