Can you recommend a good replacement tire for a 98 CLK 320? I'm definitely displeased with the continentals. They are pure junk!!! Does Michelin have any nice replacements?

Keep up the site!!

Beaver,
We know EXACTLY what you mean about the crappy Conti's. When driving a bevy of new Benz on the racetrack the cars shod with Conti tires (either Conti sport contact or conti touring contact) were not as stable as those with Michelins.

Michelin has a excellent replacement in the Energy MXV4 Plus. They are the best touring tires you can buy-period. If memory serves you have 205/55/16 size tires. You will have many options in that size ranging from Max Performance Michelin MXX3's to the more tame Energy MXV4 Plus touring tire. The best balance of handling and ride is probably the Michelin Pilot HX MXM. I just ordered a set from Tirerack for my 92 500E.

Hope this helps...Lee
