On the afternoon we left on a roadtrip to Ohio we had a rock or something hit our windshield and crack it. I decided to wait until we returned to Florida to have it replaced in case the installer in Ohio screwed somethng up and then what?
Well I had the windshield replaced on Tuesday, today is Thursday and its still not to my satisfaction, not eben CLOSE. I picked the car up Tuesday afternoon and the hadn't even vacummed the glass shards from the interior, the roofline or even wiped off their fingerprints. The kicker was that they used so much sealant that the rubber molding at the base was pushed up in the area around and under the wiper blade assembly. It looked terrible. Second rate cleanup and assembly. They even forgot to put the signature sticker on the windshield (Mercedes direct replacement). They asked if I could bring back in the morning and they would clean up the excess sealant. What else could I do at this point???
I dropped it off again on Wednesday, better clean up but still not great. Some sealant still around the wiper assembly . I had to have the car back so I took the car anyway. This afternoon my wife calls me and she says she turned the wiper on, it went to the right and is stuck there and the rubber window base molding is all bunched up :( I'm pissed. Now I'm at work right now but I am going to look at it this evening.
I already called the glass shop and they gave another excuse for their shoddy work. I agreed to look at it and then call them in the morning to discuss what to do next. I got oof of the phone and said to myself why the heck am I wasting my time here. I then called my State Farm agent who in turned contacted a vp or supervisor at the shop and raised cane. I then received a call from that vp/supervisor and he said to deal with him from now on. Call him in the morning and whatever I feel is necessary they will do and pay for whatever is necessary. I feel like taking the car to a Mercedes dealer and have them do whatever is necessary.
I even noticed on the inside of the cabin aropund the windshield there is a spot where some sealant is poking out. Am I being too picky? How can this excess be remove dfrom inside without gooping up the fabric on the inside header frame?
I even think they scratched the area around the outside of the window on the frame but I don't know how to prove that. I'll see what they say about it.
