Steve vanakin 11-20-2002, 09:11 PM Sign me up. ck42 11-21-2002, 02:20 PM I might can be there. Finals for this semester end on something like Dec. 17th.....so, depending on WHEN in Dec., I may be able to come. Cap'n Carageous 11-21-2002, 07:56 PM But Engatwork has to do the driving!:D I say we have it Autowerks!! I can see it now...................Parking lot full of MBs, Big ole grille on a trailer with BBQ chicken and ribs, cold beer and designated drivers drinkin Pepsi. Donnie do'in burnouts and letting us take our pictures with him and Bill..............YEAH!! That's what I'm talking bout!! engatwork 11-21-2002, 08:44 PM That's what I'm talking about - LOL - I could not have said it better myself :):). Can't wait to see those burnouts:). Cap'n Carageous 11-21-2002, 09:27 PM Oh! I forgot to say...WHOOOOOOOOO.....HOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Alright, Mikemover: are you in,out,in,out,in.out?????:D :D Benzoman 11-21-2002, 09:34 PM CK42: How cum that "Tadpole" avatar of yours is not smiling?;) el presidente 11-22-2002, 07:55 AM Glad to see some momentum building for this event! I have not approached Donnie or Bill. Plus, it's on a Sunday. Who knows?? Still open to site ideas :-) Steve Lee Scheeler 11-22-2002, 09:05 AM This sounds like fun. Usually the "shop" is not open on Sundays but ask Donnie and Bill. We are always happy to see folks from the web at MB Autowerks.... Failing the shop as a venue there are a couple "driver" oriented places around town I could recommend. A "track day" at Andretti speed lab anyone? (GA 400 Mansell exit) They have a Fudruckers for burgers/basic food, full bar, billiards, and oh yeah....two indoor go-kart (think slightly nutless shifter kart) tracks. As for my pesonal schedule, Sundays work best so the 8th or 15th are my vote. Keep me posted....Lee lee@mercedesshop.com el presidente 11-22-2002, 05:48 PM Well, it's now official. Bill and Donnie have generously invited us to have the GTG at MB Autowerks! We'll have the opportunity to tour the facility and 'talk shop' with the MB Masters! Be sure to mark Saturday, December 14th on you calendars. We'll plan on meeting at MB Autowerks in the afternoon (specific time to come soon) and then later we have a private room secured at a nearby german restaurant. THANK YOU Bill and Donnie for your hospitality! One more quick note.....space at the restaurant will be limited to only about 25-30! Keep an eye on this sticky for additional information about the dinner as we will have to collect a few $$ in advance for a firm headcount. Looking forward to seeing you all there! :) Steve DeltaDave 11-22-2002, 06:41 PM I'll try to make it to MB Autowerks, but may not be able to go to the restraurant as I have a work party that night ! Benzmac 11-22-2002, 07:15 PM Steve, You may also want to post this in the other forums. I think Bill and I both agree that 2pm should be a good time to get to the shop and around 4 or so we will migrate to Kurt's. Cap'n Carageous 11-22-2002, 08:17 PM Just a thought, there are members in Tennessee, north Alabama, North and South Carolina that are closer than Engatwork and me. Yall come on too! Anybody in the central Ga. area want to meet in Macon? We could ride up together or have a Motorcade!! Yeah, an MB motorcade! I just don't want to have to ride behind one of yall's diesels !!:D :D engatwork 11-22-2002, 08:51 PM Cap'n - you would not be behind it long ;) enough for it to bother you. Cap'n Carageous 11-22-2002, 09:21 PM Originally posted by engatwork Cap'n - you would not be behind it long ;) enough for it to bother you. If my 300e goes, it would probably be on a trailer behind yours !:D vanakin 11-22-2002, 09:32 PM Is this going to be a strictly for men gtg. Just wondering. engatwork 11-22-2002, 09:37 PM it is not "strictly for men" Cap'n Carageous 11-22-2002, 09:40 PM Yeah, I was hoping Mikemover would bring his groupies!!!:p :p :p mikemover 11-22-2002, 09:47 PM Originally posted by Cap'n Carageous Yeah, I was hoping Mikemover would bring his groupies!!!:p :p :p That can be arranged! :D I'm glad it's not on the 8th...I have a show that night in FL. See all of you on the 14th! Mike Ether 11-23-2002, 09:46 AM I'm there. Webmaster 11-23-2002, 10:25 AM Here's the plan so far: ---------------------------------------------------- Atlanta area gathering at MB Autowerks. Dec 14, 2002. 2pm - 4pm at MB Autowerks - Shop tour - Check out our latest projects - Discuss Mercedes 4pm - ?pm at Kurt's Restaurant - German Beer - German food - Discuss Mercedes Cap'n Carageous 11-23-2002, 09:09 PM Let's here from us!! This is the BIG ONE!! We have the opprtunity to visit "Eldorado" here!! If you live within 200 miles of Sugar Hill you don't want to miss this!! Let's hear from you!!:) suginami 11-23-2002, 09:16 PM I'm in Southern California, and about 2,000 miles away from Sugar Hill, give or take 200 miles. Is that too far? By the way, when I was in elementary school, I had an early rap album by a group called, The Sugar Hill Gang. The had a big hit at the time called "Rapper's Delite". I can still sing the words to probably the whole song, and that was about 25 years ago. Anybody heard of them, and did they come from that city? vanakin 11-24-2002, 02:46 PM The Sugar Hill Gang are from New York or New Jersey, I think, they mostly do old school nostalgia tours now. mikemover 11-24-2002, 07:13 PM Don't know where they were from, but they were one of the pioneer rap groups...definitely one of the first rap artists to get any recognition from the mainstream music industry. Mike ck42 11-25-2002, 01:57 AM Whoa! Glad I remembered to check out this thread! Looks like some serious progress has been made. :D Tentatively, the 14th is a GO for me as well. REALLY looking forward to putting faces to all these well known forum names! Chris '85 300SD el presidente 11-25-2002, 08:15 AM Donnie, As requested, I'll post this on the other forums as well:) More Details: Remember, we have secured a 'private' area of the restaurant, requiring a deposit (of sorts). I am working with the restaurant now about food arrangements, possibly a 'limited' menu so we can be served in a timely fashion. We'll probably go with a cash bar for convenience as well. More details about the menu to come soon. We will be limited to only about 25-30 people at this location. With this being the case, we will need to send in funds to secure one of the 'lucky' 25-30 spots for this meal. It is only fair this way...first come, first served:cool: Make your check for $25 (per person) payable to Bill Wood and mail in c/o MB Autowerks, 211 Peachtree Industrial Blvd., Sugar Hill, GA 30518. First come, first served.....get your checks in now! If you are only able to attend the 'shop' portion of the afternoon and can't stick around for fun and food, no $$$ is required, but DO NOT expect to have a space at the restaurant if you don't pre-register and send in your money to Bill. See you all at MB Autowerks, 2pm on Saturday, December 14th!:) Steve Q-Ball 11-25-2002, 01:47 PM Cool. Sounds great. Look forward to seeing and meeting a bunch of you all there. You will not be dissapointed, it is a great facility. FQ 2.6L 11-25-2002, 02:17 PM Hopefully I will be able to attend. I'm going out of town but coming back the Dec14th for my 18th b-day then leaving the next day :( Can't wait to meet everyone :p el presidente 11-25-2002, 09:43 PM TXBill, We'd sure love to have you! I wanted to attend the Texas Shindig before I realized I had another obligation. Form a 'caravan' and head East. We'll make room for ya'll here! Plus, you can bring out some cases of Coors beer, like in Smokey and The Bandit......Big Enos will be waiting at MB Autowerks with the check for $80,000!!:D :D :D :D :D .........I can hear it now...... East bound and down, loaded up and truckin', we're gonna do what they say can't be done. We've got a long way to go and a short time to get there. I'm east bound, just watch ol' "Bandit" run. Keep your foot hard on the pedal. Son, never mind them brakes. Let it all hang out 'cause we got a run to make. The boys are thirsty in Atlanta and there's beer in Texarcana. And we'll bring it back no matter what it takes. East bound and down, loaded up and truckin', we're gonna do what they say can't be done. We've got a long way to go and a short time to get there. I'm east bound, just watch ol' "Bandit" run. East bound and down, loaded up and truckin', we're gonna do what they say can't be done. We've got a long way to go and a short time to get there. I'm east bound, just watch ol' "Bandit" run. Ol' Smokey's got them ears on and he's hot on your trail. He aint gonna rest 'til you're in jail. So you got to dodge 'im and you got to duck 'im, you got to keep that diesel truckin'. Just put that hammer down and give it hell. East bound and down, loaded up and truckin', we're gonna do what they say can't be done. We've got a long way to go and a short time to get there. I'm east bound, just watch ol' "Bandit" run. C'mon!:D :D :D el presidente 11-27-2002, 07:57 AM Engatwork, Can we arrange to have the Cap'n's 300E up at the shop that afternoon??.....I have a few ideas:D :D :D :D Lemmie see...some orange paint, some 'dixie' horns, an '01 on the side. Plus, we can weld the doors shut and ask John Schneider to show up and sign autographs:p :D :p :D Then, we can find a 'little gap' over a creek bed and get some great video  engatwork 11-27-2002, 08:36 AM I don't think it will jump a creek in "limp home" mode :). Sounds like he would like to park it in a creek somewhere though. Cap'n Carageous 11-27-2002, 10:01 AM Cars are like children... Your first beer is on me :) LarryBible 11-30-2002, 12:44 PM Due to the companies condition, I am low on funds but long on frequent flyer miles. I know this would be an imposition, so I hesitate to ask, but is there anyone who would be going by the Atlanta airport on the way to the gtg, and someone going back by the airport the next morning to take me back? I don't normally check this forum, so if you could email me I would appreciate it very much. Sorry for the imposition, vanakin 11-30-2002, 09:04 PM Hello Larry, What time exactly would you be landing, since Sept 11, picking up people from the airport has become complicated, you can't park or wait at the cub, you have to circle around like a hawk until you see your passenger. mikesdl 11-30-2002, 11:05 PM Make sure you post pictures, Check out our socal GTG thread mikemover 12-02-2002, 09:19 PM Larry, I live downtown, only 15 minutes or so from the airport....I'm sure picking you up wouldn't be a problem. I'll keep that in mind. Actually, I'm the lead tenor in the choir. If I don't show up for the lessons and carols service on the 15th, I probably should never show up again. Although I believe it is around a 10 hour drive to Atlanta from my house. It would be more convenient if another person wanted to carpool or caravan up there. Email me if you would like to caravan up from the east coast of Florida cpartain@cfl.rr.com Also could somebody email me more info on how to get there and maybe a decent nearby hotel to check into. I doubt I would be able to there and back without sleeping. Regards, Christopher Partain Cap'n Carageous 11-09-2003, 11:34 PM Sorry to tell you but the event was yesterday. Next time it happens plan to be there. It would be more like 8 hours travel for you than ten. If you do plan to come let me know, I'll get you a good place to stay for low $$$$.
