View Full Version : Roll Call For Mb-autowerks Gtg
el presidente 12-10-2002, 10:18 AM With the weekend approaching fast, the GTG at MB Autowerks is shaping up nicely.
I know several have expressed interest in attending, but it would be nice to have a neat, consolidated thread with a 'show of hands' of those planning on making it.
Don't be shy.....stand up and be counted!
Steve
I'll be there. :D

Crowe 12-10-2002, 10:42 AM Count me in!
Cap'n Carageous 12-10-2002, 10:53 AM Me too!
vanakin 12-10-2002, 02:58 PM I'll be there!
engatwork 12-10-2002, 09:02 PM I'm going to try to get up there. I have to run some diesel purge through a friends 300SD Sat morning and I started on getting set to pull the engine from the 300D. Plan to work on it for a little while before driving up. I tend to get wrapped up in stuff like that and time flys by. Will try to ride up though. Stephen, call before you pass through the area.
Cap'n Carageous 12-10-2002, 09:10 PM Do you need any help with you Saturday projects? Also I have an engine stand and hoist if you need to use them.
We need to get you freed up. If I don't ride with you then I'll have to stop in Buckhead and RENT an MB to drive up in! I'll be ashamed to pull up in my Honda!!
vanakin 12-11-2002, 02:50 AM Does anyone know what the forecast for this saturday is gonna be?
Cap'n Carageous 12-11-2002, 09:35 AM CLoudy with a high of 55. 20% chance of rain.
DJNEWK2 12-11-2002, 03:01 PM I'v gotta gig later but I should be able to make it (my brother in law and family's coming in today but hey-I can drag him with me if his wife ALLOWS him to come) :)
Scott P. 12-11-2002, 09:36 PM I'll be there!
Scott P.
Cardude 12-13-2002, 01:40 AM I'm in also.
Cardude
el presidente 12-13-2002, 07:56 AM I'm also expecting a few other local MB folks to come out.
The weather should be great as the rain will move through tonight :)
DJNEWK2 12-13-2002, 02:34 PM A friend of mine (I actually just met) wanted to know...hell me too- what is the official "start" time? We were talking MB's and I told him about the GTG and gave him the website addy but don't know if he's logged on or not.
I'll call him though and we'll probably need directions coming from 285...actually I can call Donnie and the guys for that huh? A small bit of bad news for me is that my baby caught a flat yesterday and I'll have to pull up with 3 chrome and one gray aluminum rim but she'll be alright! Maybe I can get the spare mounted onto my chrome wheel ;)

2pm.
From I-285 and Peachtree Industrial. Head North. MB Autowerks will be on the left :)
mikemover 12-13-2002, 05:57 PM Sorry for the last minute post, but I'm coming! I've had computer issues for a couple of days...haven't been on the forum.
I also had a little "incident" the other day...I met another MB owner...the hard way. We kind of bumped into each other! Minor damage to both...I'll still be driving the car to the meet, but I'll have a slightly crooked nose. :( I already have a body-shop appointment on Monday.
See you guys there!
Mike
AndrewK 12-13-2002, 07:32 PM I think I'll be there.
Tobias MB 12-14-2002, 10:12 AM I'm in my office at the moment, loaded up to leave for the GTG which should be a blast. Have a four hour drive ahead but well worth the trip.
See you all there later.

Cap'n Carageous 12-14-2002, 10:49 AM I'm in my office too, but headed to meet Engatwork soon. It'll be about a three hour drive for me. See yall soon!!!
It was great. I was there and enjoyed it.
Thanks to the el presidente and MB Autowerks.
Met a bunch of new Mercedes fans and just had to register with this forum. :)
engatwork 12-14-2002, 09:51 PM :):) - when all is said and done ask em which car turned into the parking lot at the rest. first :):) - hint - it was a W123 diesel. A really nice CLK55 left MBAutoWerks at the front of the line but it was not the first one that turned in. Going so fast it missed the sign - LOL. What's that they say about age and cunning???? anyway It was a good time, the beer was cold, the food was good and a good time was had by all. Thanks for the hospitality Donnie/Bill and Beth.
Ya'll would have to ride with Cap'n for a couple hours to understand him - hell he is just like me :):).
Oh yea, when you go to eat at a German rest. make sure you know exactly what you are getting. One of the members ordered something (Bodo knows how to pronounce it AND knows what it is) and it was 1/4 of a hog. Needless to say - he can feed his family for a week on what was in the doggy bag :):). Looked good too.
I'll get a picture up tomorrow after everyone else has.
Cap'n Carageous 12-14-2002, 11:08 PM But right now I'm speechless!:o What an afternoon! Wonderfull folks there and just like a big family. BTW, I'll have something to say later on about WHY that CLK 55 AMG got beat to the restaurant. I was in it! Heck, it's hard to read signs at 85 MPH in a 25 MPH zone!!
Tobias MB 12-15-2002, 02:10 AM Sorry for you members that don't live within a few hours drive to Atlanta b/c you missed a great day at MB Autowerks. We got to meet all we knew about and those that made up this great site.
Thanks again to Bill, Donnie, Beth and EP for putting this event together and for the freebies we all were offered.
The German dinner was like being in Sindelfingen with your eyes closed as there was delicious food and high octane beer for all.
Thanks Jim for the first round of suds.
Hopefully we will do this more often and when the weather is more accomodating as it was nippy...low forties. I'm just now back and have to repack in the morning to leave for Germany on Monday for Christmas. Have great holidays and drive safely.

It was a GREAT time! Thanks to el presidente (isn't that title a bit egotistical? ;)), Donnie, and everyone else involved. It was a fun, well organized event. We had great discussions about cars, driving, dating, music, good beers, and hard-to-identify dead animals on the table! :) I saw several cameras there that day...post your pictures! I forgot to bring mine. :(

I tried to shoot a pic of that thing but, I didn't have my wide angle lens! ;)
engatwork 12-16-2002, 09:30 PM "I recognize that animal!!!!"
LOL vanakin - I recognized it too - a 1/4 of a hog:):). I'll bet it is still good too.
Cap'n Carageous 12-16-2002, 09:58 PM My favorite part was Engatwork telling the jokes with the "It's the beer talking" disclaimers before each one!!!!:D :D :D I got beer up my nose on one of them!!:p

So that's what led to the story about blowing up the ...eh...balloons, I was trying to figure out what led up to that, question answered
engatwork 12-17-2002, 08:22 AM LOL - heck I don't even remember telling that one. That must have been after that second beer - those were big old beers. Thanks to Mikemover for helping me figure out which beer to order.
Cap'n Carageous 12-17-2002, 09:44 AM And then there was the one about "Hall sex"!! :D :D What a good time!!:)
