I have a small chip on the right rear wheel well that is starting to rust.
I have touch-up paint that I want to cover it up with.
What is the best way to remove the rust and apply the touch-up paint?
Thanks in advance.
P.S. The chip size is a little less than 1/8".

Farena,
I have had great luck with a product called "Extend". It is made by Permatex (sp). It comes in a spray can, but you can spray some on a small brush or Q-Tip and just dab it on the rust.
It converts the rust to something that looks like a primer and it is very hard.
Allow it to set 24 hours and then reapply waiting again for another 24 hours. You can drive the car if it isn't raining or snowing or below freezing.
You can sand it lightly if desired.
If there are holes in the metel, then fill the holes with bondo or something.
Cover it with your touch-up paint.
After the paint dries, you can wet sand it, and apply another coat.
After this, Wet sand again with very, very fine (1000 grit) and then polish.
Job done.
I did this on my old 84 500SEL about 2 years ago, and to this day, can't see where the rust was. Mine was only surface rust, no holes.
I had a place on one of the door sils that I just treated with the Extend and painted with a Q-tip and it hasn't come back either. Its rough and not pertty, but no rust.
By the way, you don't even have to paint it if you don't want to.
Like under the car.
I buy the Extend at the local Pep Boys.
PS, I don't work for Permetex, I just ran across a great produce.

I've used Extend too, and had very good luck with it. Instructions are on the bottle.
