I don't know much about tires, but my 1995 C-220 is in need of new ones. It has Michelin 195/65/R/15's on it now.

I thought I might throw this out for opinion since I have the opportunity to get whatever is the best tire for the money.

I want a long-wear tire with a good ride. Speed rating is unimportant because I rarely drive over the limit.

Would a fatter tire help the ride/traction?

I have observed 3-4 tire brand on Mercedes -- Michelin, Continental, Pirelli.

Any suggestions? thanks

Consumer Reports had also recommended
BF Goodrich and Dunlops highly.

I also have question re C280 tires. I say a more recent version with 205/60/15's. Is this an automatic swap from the standard
195/65/15's? Assuming slightly harsher ride is OK are there any other disadvantages to going to this slightly larger size? Seems like it would give better
emergency handling without sacrificing wear etc. appreciate any comments.
