I need to find a 16V ECU. I have been talking with Jim Conforti (the BEST BMW chip tuner) about tuning the 16V for some more power. Now since the 16V used the old Jetronic instead of the new Motronic there is no way to chip it. But Jim Conforti has broke everyone of Bosch's codes, so he would be the most likely to be able to tune the older Jetronic. He has told me if I can get him an ECU that he would be glad to tear it apart and try to figure it out. This could turn out to be very good for those of us with older (and new) MB's that would like some more power. So if anyone has a 16V ECU for sale or knows where I might be able to find one please let me know.

Keep us posted on any developments. I know I would LOVE to get him to tune my 500E! I can recall a few other MB owners out there who would like to get the kind of gains/results Conforti is famous for.

Thanks,
Lee

For a used 190 ECU , you can try one of those Mercedes Wrecking shop around your area.
I do have a reference around Seattle WA area. Those auto wrecking shops do have a large networks, that could look up any used mercedes parts.
The store around my area is call the Aurora Auto Wrecking Inc.

You can ask for Kevin McAllister, he appears to be a nice and helpfull person who knows alot about used Mercedes parts. If they don't have the parts they will recommand you to someone else. Pobably to one of Mercedes wrecking store around your area.
hope this will help !

You do realize the thread was six years "cold" when you revived it?

Does the "guest" status on the previous posters indicate that they are no longer registered users here?

maybe the codes on the 16v ECU are a little tougher to crack ;)

ON KE Jetronic systems the engine computer doesn't really do much! SO why would anyone try to modify that computer? THE engine is at maximun at WOT!

The biggest problem with lack of HP with the 16V is runner length of the intake! Going to a shorter manifold with EFI is the only real way that the fuel system would allow for MORE HP!

I just acquired a euro spec 1985 model 16v. Tell me some more about changing intakes please. I like the car. I wish it had a little more pop though. I see where one fellow used a supercharger off a newer c class on a 190e. I thought that was sort of slick. A different intake might be more in my budget however. Is it something that they used in europe possibly an AMG item ?

This is what AMG did for the DTM cars, note the EFI individual throttle bodies.

Stuff the EFI and go carbs! pair of 44 webers straight on the head with KN filters and it's a different car.

Good idea! And while we're at it, we'll stuff the Recaro seats and sit on milk crates instead! :freak:

If you want to get as much potential out of an engine as you can, carb are NOT the way to do it. Throw carbs on a 16v aned you'll be going backwards about 30 years or so.
