I HAVE A 1982 240D WITH THE DARK BLUE COLOR. I AM LOOKING FOR A SPRAY CAN TOUCH UP PAINT FOR IT, BUT HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND ANYTHING THAT COMES CLOSE. ANY SUGGESTIONS AS TO WHERE I MIGHT BE ABLE TO PURCHASE IT EITHER ONLINE OR BY MAIL ORDER?

if your car has the original paint, go to your nearest MB dealer with your paint code (stamped on a badge located near the top of the radiator close to the locking mechanism of the hood) and buy a can of touch up paint.

I have used the M Benz touch up paint. It matches PERFECTLY! There is even a different paint for the bumpers, as they are plastic and flex. Cost about $39.00 at the dealer, for the 2 aerosol cans, (clear coat and paint), and he had to order it. I felt kinda ripped off until I sprayed it, and it was exactly right. Like anything else, spend the bucks to get the right thing. The results are worth it.

Let me get this straight, you painted your Benz via an aeresol can? I am not that brave. Would you recommend me to paint spots on my hood that way?

I painted a small area, about 2 x 4 inches on my bumper, where the previous owner mounted an "e pass" toll booth device and ripped some paint off.
To paint the whole car, use a brush and stroke along the length of the body, to aid in aerodymanics.....:-)

Whould you want to angle the brush strokes for lift?

Doesn't a mini-roller produce better results than a brush, then you don't have to worry about angle of attack?

No...no...no!
These are all low-tech methods!
Here's the hi-tech way to do it:

Rub your entire car vigorously with a raccoon pelt to create an electrical charge on the surface of the car. Then take powdered paint and throw it into the air near the car. The charge on the car will attract the paint.

No No No, finger painting is the way to go. Totally bypasses the brush marks, and.. you can set it up to give you any type of airflow pattern you want..
